January 8th 2016, the annual conference of National Science and Technology Progress Award was held in Great Hall of the People. The Research Group of End-Stage Liver Disease Comprehensive Diagnosis and Treatment co-led by Shuseng Zheng and Lanjuan Li who are Academician of China Academy of Engineering was awarded National Team Prize for Progress in Science and Technology, and the prize represents the highest appreciation for scientific research team in the country. It is the first National Team Prize for Progress in Science and Technology in Medical area in Zhejiang Province.
The group which is consisted of 220 researchers is aiming at improving the diagnosing and treating methods of end-stage liver disease and reducing the mortality rate of patients in severe conditions. Thanks to the cooperation of the team members, the group achieved end-stage liver disease diagnosis and treatment theory innovations and method breakthroughs, and therefore it has been considered as one of the top research groups both at home and abroad.
Currently, the group owns two national key disciplines and four national clinical key disciplines. It is composed of two Academician of China Academy of Engineering, two experts from the Recruitment Program of Global Experts, four experts from the Cheung Kong Scholars Program of China, two winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, two 973 Project Chief Scientist, six supervisors of Epidemiology Key Projects, three supervisors of the National Key Technology R&D Program and a bunch of research group leaders of 973 Program and 863 Program. The group has been awarded the Cheung Kong Scholars and Innovation Team of Research and Development Program of China, the Innovation Team of Committee of National Natural Science Foundation of China, the First Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, He Liang & He Li Science and Technology Progress Award and so forth.
